Quality is checked throughout production

Printing Quality Control

Quality control at EZRA Card follows the product through each production stage. Materials are checked before printing, printed sheets are reviewed before processing, finished components are checked before sorting, and packed orders are inspected before shipment.

The exact checks depend on the product specification, materials, finishes, packaging, and approved sample. Our QC process is designed to compare production results with the agreed project requirements at more than one point in the workflow.

Our Quality Control Process

1. Incoming material inspection
Card stock and packaging materials being checked before custom card production

Materials are checked before they enter production. Depending on the project, this may include card stock, paper, ink, foil, coating materials, packaging board, inserts, and other components. The team checks the received materials against the approved project requirements and identifies visible damage, quantity issues, or specification differences before printing begins.

2. Printing QC
Printed card sheets being checked for color, registration, and visible print quality

During printing, the production team checks the result against the approved artwork, proof, and project specification. Depending on the job, checks may include color appearance, registration, image clarity, alignment, surface coverage, and visible printing defects. The workflow may involve different printing technologies, CMYK printing, or spot color printing, depending on the product requirements.

3. Processing QC
Custom cards being checked after finishing and die-cutting

After printing, cards and packaging may go through lamination, varnish, foil stamping, UV coating, embossing, die-cutting, corner rounding, or other specified processes. Processing QC checks whether the finish, position, edges, surface, and structure match the approved requirements. See our finishing options and material integration services for more information.

4. Sorting QC
Custom card components being sorted and checked before assembly

Sorting QC checks whether the printed and processed components are arranged according to the approved product structure. For playing card decks, this may include card order, front and back matching, special cards, counts, and version separation. For trading card projects and game cards, the requirements may also include approved collation or pack configurations.

5. Packaging QC
Custom card boxes and inserts being checked during packaging

Before final inspection, the team checks the packaging and the way the product is packed. Depending on the project, this may include box structure, printed panels, inserts, seals, labels, component quantities, and visible packaging condition. The team may also check booklets and instructions together with the cards and other included components.

6. Final Inspection
Finished custom card orders being reviewed before packing and delivery

Final Inspection compares the completed order with the approved project requirements before delivery. The review may cover appearance, quantity, dimensions, finishing, sorting, assembly, packaging, and other agreed project-specific criteria. This final checkpoint forms part of the wider production process. For project-specific requirements, sample review, or delivery questions, contact EZRA Card.

Quality Checks Throughout Production

1. Card Inspection

We inspect the finished cards against the agreed specifications, with particular attention to dimensions, cutting, edges, corners, flatness, and visible physical defects.

Inspection Points:

Additional Inspection for PVC Cards

For PVC cards, we also check for ink loss, ink rub-off, and surface scratches that may occur during handling or subsequent processing.

2. Printing Quality Inspection

We inspect the printed artwork for missing areas, contamination, positioning problems, and alignment issues before and after subsequent processing.

Inspection Points:

The inspection focuses on whether the artwork has been printed completely and positioned correctly according to the approved production requirements.

3. Specialty Finishing Inspection

Different finishing processes require different inspection criteria. We inspect specialty finishes according to the specific process, artwork, and approved production requirements.

Foil Stamping

Fine lines, small details, and larger foil areas are checked for clear transfer, correct positioning, and visible defects.

Edge Gilding

The finished edges are inspected for uneven coverage, visible loss, peeling, scratches, and unwanted contamination.

Lamination & Coating

The treated surface is checked for visible defects that may affect the appearance or physical condition of the finished card.

Embossing & Debossing

Embossed and debossed areas are checked against the approved artwork and production requirements for position, definition, and physical condition.

4. Deck Composition & Collation

Quality control extends beyond individual cards. The finished deck must contain the correct cards, in the correct quantity, order, and grouping.

Inspection Points:

This is especially important for TCG products, game cards, instructional decks, and projects containing multiple card designs or card types

5. Packaging & Final Inspection

The final inspection covers the complete finished product before shipment, including the cards, deck configuration, packaging components, and overall appearance.

Inspection Points:

The final inspection is intended to confirm that the order is complete, correctly configured, and free from obvious damage before shipment.

Not every card project requires the same inspection criteria.

A standard playing card deck, a tarot deck with extensive foil finishing, and a TCG product containing multiple card types can require different inspection methods and acceptance criteria.

Our acceptance criteria are generally based on a standard suitable for commercial release, while taking the specific requirements of each project into account.

No manufacturing process is perfect. We continuously work to reduce avoidable human errors, improve process control, and prevent the same quality issues from happening again.

When a quality issue is identified

If a quality issue is identified, the project team should compare the result with the approved specification, proof, or sample and record the affected product, component, or production stage. The appropriate response depends on the nature and scope of the issue.

Customers should provide project details, photographs, quantities, packaging information, and other relevant evidence so the issue can be reviewed accurately.

Quality Assurance FAQs

EZRA Card uses six main QC stages: incoming material inspection, printing QC, processing QC, sorting QC, packaging QC, and Final Inspection. Each stage checks the product against the information and requirements available at that point in production.

No. The inspection points depend on the product, materials, printing method, finishes, packaging, approved proof or sample, and other agreed requirements. A trading card project, a tarot deck, and a boxed game may require different checks. View our production process →

During printing, the production team compares the printed result with the approved artwork, proof, and project specification. Depending on the project, checks may include color appearance, registration, image clarity, alignment, surface coverage, and visible printing defects. Learn about our printing technologies →

Sorting QC checks card order, quantities, front and back matching, special cards, versions, and approved collation requirements when applicable. Packaging QC checks the box structure, printed panels, inserts, labels, included components, quantities, and visible packaging condition.

Final Inspection compares the completed order with the approved project requirements before delivery. Depending on the project, it may cover appearance, dimensions, quantity, finishing, sorting, assembly, packaging, and other agreed acceptance criteria.

Final Inspection is the last checkpoint. It does not replace the material, printing, processing, sorting, and packaging checks completed earlier.

If a confirmed production issue causes the finished product to fall significantly outside the approved specifications or agreed tolerances, EZRA Card will provide an appropriate remedy.

Depending on the nature and scope of the issue, this may include compensation or reprinting the affected products. When the issue is confirmed to be production-related, EZRA Card will cover the related costs of the agreed remedy.

Customers should provide project details, photographs or videos, affected quantities, packaging information, and other relevant evidence. Please contact our team → as soon as an issue is identified.
